In looking for a celebration piece to mark my fortieth birthday, and also to practice my own compositional skills, there seemed no better option than writing my own version of the Magnificat. I have dedicated the piece to my wife, Ellie, in grateful thanks for everything she has done for me in the last thirteen years. I have chosen more modern words as I feel the world probably has enough settings to Book Of Common Prayer words.
