Elvey's DIADEMATA tune begins in the key of C major with the PRIMO introducing a majestic theme that is repeated throughout. The SECONDO then brings out the melody as the piece progresses. After once through the complete melody, there is a 2-measure transition to the key of D major. The PRIMO then carries the melody while the SECONDO harmonizes using a modification of the majestic theme introduced by the PRIMO.
