Until 1953, Henry Purcell was believed to have written this work. The true identity of the composer of the original organ composition is Jeremiah Clarke. This audience favorite is presented here in a flexible instrumentation that will accommodate many different uses for young strings. The arranger's notes provide suggestions for uses from five instruments to a complete string orchestra. Some carefully placed double stops will give young performers a great introduction to this aspect of string performance.
