G D C
F Bbmaj7 F Bbmaj7

[Verse]
F Bbmaj7
Saturday night and you're still hangin' around
F Bbmaj7
Tired of livin' in your one-horse town
F Bbmaj7
You'd like to find a little hole in the ground
      Am C
For a while u-hm-hm

F Bbmaj7
So you go to the village in your tie-dye jeans
F Bbmaj7
And you stare at the junkies and the closet queens
F Bbmaj7
It's like some pornographic magazine
        Am D
And you smile u-hm-hm

[Chorus]
G D G/B C D
Captain Jack will get you high tonight
G D G/B C
And take you to your special island
G D G/B C D
Captain Jack will get you by tonight
G D G/B C
Just a little push and you'll be smilin'

F Bbmaj7 F Bbmaj7

[Verse]
F Bbmaj7
Your sister's gone out, she's on a date
F Bbmaj7
And you just sit at home and masturbate
F Bbmaj7
Your phone is gonna ring soon but you just can't wait
         Am C
For that call u-hm-hm

F Bbmaj7
So you stand on the corner in your New English clothes
F Bbmaj7
And you look so polished from your hair down to your toes
F Bbmaj7
Oh but still your finger's gonna pick your nose
      Am D
After all u-hm-hm

[Chorus]
G D G/B C D
Captain Jack will get you high tonight
G D G/B C
And take you to your special island
G D G/B C D
Captain Jack will get you by tonight
G D G/B C
Just a little push and you'll be smilin'

F Bbmaj7 F Bbmaj7
 oh yeah

[Verse]
F Bbmaj7
So you decide to take a holiday
F Bbmaj7
You got your tape deck and your brand new Chevrolet
F Bbmaj7
Ah there ain't no place to go anyway
         Am C
And what for u-hm-hm

F Bbmaj7
So you've got everything, ah but nothing's cool
F Bbmaj7
They just found your Father in the swimming pool
F Bbmaj7
And you guess you won't be going back to school
    Am D
Any more

[Chorus]
G D G/B C D
Captain Jack will get you high tonight
G D G/B C
And take you to your special island
G D G/B C D
Captain Jack will get you by tonight
G D G/B C
Just a little push and you'll be smilin' la la la

F Bbmaj7 F Bbmaj7
 oh yeah

[Verse]
F Bbmaj7
So you play your albums and you smoke your pot
F Bbmaj7
And you meet your girlfriend in the parking lot
F Bbmaj7
Oh but still you're aching for the things you haven't got
          Am C
What went wrong u-hm-hm

F Bbmaj7
And if you can't understand why your world is so dead

Why you've gotta keep in style and feed your head

Well you're twenty one and still your Mother makes your bed
               Am D
And that's too long Whoa-whoa-whoa-yeah-yeah

[Chorus]

I skip all the Bm's in the chorus, and it sounds ok.

I'll never say that I'm right and someone else is wrong, because I really do prefer variety to simply hearing the recorded version exact, but the one thing I do different, and I play this simply on an acoustic guitar, is when the writer moves from the F-Bbmaj7 to Am-C, I play Am7 instead of Am. Also, on the captain Jack will get you high tonight part, I just play the three chords and omit the Bm. I don't have access to the record, very often, when you hear a different cord popping, sometimes it's just a passing note, so check your base notes that you can reach from the D that might cause you to lead into C. I don't forget it this is played on piano which it probably is but it might be a guitar. Not on this song, but I've seen some songs where people writing will put up several chords when it's a simple bass walk down, and the only difference is the initial cord might be a partial but it really never changes. It's just difficult I guess to write it that way. Well have fun, and always remember, if you were playing for the guy who originally wrote this, or any other song you see here, he would not be impressed at all if it sounded just like the record. He might be impressed though if he heard you do a little something different with it, so try to put your own style or something into any piece you are learning. It might not go over great in bar is where everyone wants to hear the jukebox version, but other musicians will appreciate it. Most of all, have fun!!!

it's possible i could be insane but i thought the 3rd Bbmaj7 on every verse first goes to a Bm7♭5 and THEN to the Bbmaj7? when i listen to the recording i hear that little difference but i could be making this all up idk
